News Summary

PNC Bank has announced leadership changes as Mike Anselmo plans to retire in 2025, with C.J. Pascarella stepping in. Additionally, PNC launched the Spend Wise Visa credit card, promoting responsible financial management, while continuing support for local businesses through partnerships.

Pennsylvania – PNC Bank has announced significant personnel changes, the launch of a new credit card, and a continued commitment to supporting local small businesses. Mike Anselmo, the market leader for PNC’s Corporate Bank in Western and Central Pennsylvania, will retire effective July 1, 2025, after a distinguished career spanning four decades. His successor, C.J. Pascarella, is set to take over the role, bringing considerable experience and a focus on enhancing services for the region’s larger public and private companies.

Anselmo has been a formidable presence in the banking industry, joining PNC in 1986, and later returning in 2001 after a brief hiatus. His leadership has greatly influenced the corporate banking segment, particularly in the area serving companies with annual revenues exceeding $50 million. Beyond his banking career, Anselmo has made notable contributions to the community, holding positions on various boards such as treasurer of Oakland Catholic High School and being a member of the Finance Council at Saint Jude Parish. His academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Duquesne University.

Pascarella, who has two decades of banking experience with 16 years at PNC, will assume the role of market leader while continuing his duties as corporate banking sales leader. This transition is expected to bring continuity to PNC’s operations in the corporate banking sector and enhance the bank’s strategic focus in the region.

In addition to leadership changes, PNC Bank has introduced the PNC Spend Wise℠ Visa® credit card, aimed at promoting responsible financial management among its customers. The card features an innovative purchase APR reduction program for eligible cardholders, making it unique in the marketplace. Key offerings of the PNC Spend Wise credit card include no annual fee, an introductory APR of 0% for the first 18 months, and various incentives designed to reward positive financial behaviors.

This new credit card launch aligns with PNC’s ongoing strategy to fill gaps in the financial products market while encouraging responsible debt management. Last year, PNC also unveiled the PNC Cash Unlimited® Visa Signature® credit card, further showcasing its trend towards straightforward rewards, allowing cardholders to earn 2% cash back on eligible purchases.

PNC Bank also continues to foster its collaboration with the Pittsburgh Pirates through the “Going to Bat for Small Business Program.” Now in its sixth year, this initiative highlights local businesses and offers marketing support valued at up to $100,000. Originally developed to assist businesses during the pandemic, the program has recognized six local businesses in 2025, providing them with marketing packages and grants to enhance their visibility and growth.

Since its inception, the partnership between PNC Bank and the Pittsburgh Pirates has resulted in contributions exceeding three million dollars in marketing assets for local businesses. This commitment underlines PNC’s dedication to strengthening community ties and supporting small enterprises that significantly impact the Pittsburgh area.

Looking ahead, PNC Bank aims to implement a growth-focused strategy that leverages technology to enhance service quality and security for its customers. Through these strategic initiatives, PNC plans to solidify its position as a trusted financial partner within the communities it serves.
