Philadelphia is set to host the highly anticipated 2025 Philly Music Fest, running from October 13 to 19. This year’s festival promises to be an extraordinary event, featuring 22 bands across nine shows throughout the city, further solidifying its reputation as “The Best Week of Philly Music in Philly.” A surprise headliner is expected to kick off the festival with shows at Ardmore Music Hall on October 13 and 14.
The festival, founded and produced by Greg and Jenn Seltzer, aims to highlight local musical talent while raising funds for music education charities in Philadelphia. Over the past three years, the event has been able to donate $100,000 each year to support these important programs, reinforcing its commitment to the community. This year, half of the proceeds from ticket sales will also benefit music education initiatives.
The headliner for the opening night remains a closely guarded secret, generating excitement among fans and music enthusiasts. The Seltzers have been working for nine years to book this long-standing act from Philadelphia, which adds an intriguing element of surprise to the festival. Previous surprise guests have included notable names such as Mt. Joy and Waxahatchee.
The festival’s schedule features a variety of artists, including The Wonder Years, who will perform two nights on October 17 and 18 at Underground Arts. Other participating acts include Matt Quinn, Greg Mendez, Catie Turner, Deadguy, Nazir Ebo, and Black Buttafly, showcasing a mix of genres such as rock, hip hop, jazz, punk, and Americana.
In a new addition, the festival has announced a heavy metal night featuring Deadguy at MilkBoy Philadelphia. The festival also features themed nights, providing audiences with a diverse musical experience, including a jazz night with Nazir Ebo and Daniel Villareal. This expanded lineup reflects the festival’s dedication to offering varied genres and promoting local talent.
Tickets for the 2025 Philly Music Fest will be made available starting May 16 at 10 a.m., with prices ranging from $20 to $50. The anticipated economic impact of the festival on local venues, hotels, and restaurants amounts to approximately $600,000 annually, showcasing the event’s importance to the local economy. All performances will take place exclusively at independently owned venues, highlighting the festival’s support for local businesses.
In addition to the regular programming, a new venue, the Fallser Club in East Falls, has also been introduced for this year’s festivities. The expansion of venues and genres indicates the festival’s growth and commitment to nurturing the Philadelphia music scene.
As the Philadelphia Music Fest approaches, anticipation continues to build. With a mystery headliner and an impressive roster of local talent, the festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of music culture in the city. The promotional artwork for the festival embodies the theme “Stay Tuned,” inviting fans to remain engaged as the event unfolds.
