Taking place on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, this fantastic event is organized by the spirited folks over at Global Philadelphia. What’s the Hype All About?

This yearly celebration is all about honoring our heritage, diversity, community, and the environment. Why not take a break from your usual routine and explore the amazing landmarks right in your backyard? This year, a whopping 67 National Historic Landmarks will be participating, each offering special experiences that don’t come around every day!

Friday Schedule – A Day Full of Discovery!

Kick off the weekend by swinging by the Woodford Mansion located at 2300 N. 33rd St., where from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can enjoy an open house soaking up the exquisite architecture and grounds.

If you’ve ever wanted to take a closer look at Independence Hall, now’s your chance! Guided tours are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Walk through this iconic site and imagine all the history that’s unfolded there!

Saturday Fun – Family-Friendly Activities Galore!

Saturday is packed to the brim with all sorts of exciting events. Start your day right at Independence National Historical Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Junior Ranger Day. This family-friendly event is perfect for children and parents alike, providing a unique opportunity to dive into history while having fun!

Next, make your way to Laurel Hill Cemetery from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the Revolutionary War patriots program, where you’ll learn more about those who fought for our nation’s freedom.

Feeling adventurous? Join the Architecture Adventures Open House at Founder’s Hall (2101 S. College Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Don’t forget to register online to secure your spot!

For something a little different, grab your friends and family and head over to the Johnson House Historic Site (6306 Germantown Ave.) for a Stamp Rally and Scavenger Hunt Contest. This is a fantastic way to discover the hidden greenspaces in Historic Germantown!

Learn about the rich contribution of African Americans to Philadelphia’s history with a tour of Mother Bethel AME Church (419 S. 6th St.) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Alternatively, you can visit the Stenton Museum (4601 North 18th St.) for free tours from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Make sure to reserve in advance to guarantee your spot!
