Philadelphia – The Philadelphia Police Department is actively seeking at least two individuals in connection with a string of burglaries targeting businesses in Northeast Philadelphia. The primary suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Marcos Neto, who is believed to be linked to at least eight separate incidents since February 2025.

The ongoing investigation into these burglaries has highlighted a troubling pattern, with business owners describing the devastation caused by the break-ins. One notable case involves José Tavares, owner of the Northeast Community Auto repair shop located on Roosevelt Boulevard. Tavares reported that his business was targeted multiple times, adding that significant damage has been inflicted. Surveillance footage from May 5, 2025, captured Neto attempting to forcibly enter the office of Tavares’ shop, during which he fired a gun at the glass windows after other methods of entry failed. The incident resulted in four bullet holes in the glass and shrapnel lodged in the ceiling above.

Business owner Tavares has expressed his frustration regarding the situation, stating that, due to the burglaries, he has spent over $4,000 on repairs and necessary security upgrades to protect his establishment.

According to police reports, Neto’s criminal record includes multiple offenses related to business burglaries. His alleged criminal activities began on February 15, 2025, when he reportedly broke a side glass window at Royal Car Center and stole three iPhones. Since then, he has been implicated in several additional burglaries, including incidents at Guardo Body Shop on May 7 and May 10, where he was caught on camera stealing tools while brandishing a handgun. The investigation also links Neto to a burglary at King’s Deli on May 24, among others.

Notably, police have indicated that a second suspect may have been involved in these burglaries, although this individual has yet to be identified. Surveillance footage has suggested that these crimes typically occur during the overnight hours, creating a significant alarm among local business owners and the community.

Law enforcement officials caution that Neto may be armed and suffer from a hearing impairment, which could affect his responsiveness to verbal commands. This raises concerns regarding the potential danger he may pose to both community members and law enforcement personnel. He is reported to have several distinctive tattoos on his right hand and neck, which could assist in identification.

In light of the ongoing investigation, police are urging the public to assist in locating Neto. He is thought to be in the vicinity of Castor and Levick Streets, and authorities are asking anyone with relevant information concerning Neto or the burglary incidents to come forward. Citizens are encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Police Northeast Detectives Division at 215-686-3153/3154. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477) or through an online portal.

The rise of burglaries in Northeast Philadelphia has instigated responses from the police, who are working diligently to reassure concerned business owners and residents. As the investigation continues, the hope remains that the apprehension of the suspects will curtail the recent spate of crimes and restore a sense of security to the neighborhood.
