Sarah Mailloux has been appointed as the new state director of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (PASBDC). With over ten years of experience , she previously served as the associate state director and has a strong track record in economic development, strategic planning, and education. Mailloux holds multiple degrees from the University of Delaware and is recognized for her commitment to supporting small businesses. The PASBDC, vital for Pennsylvania’s economic growth, is set to thrive under her leadership.
Sarah Mailloux has been appointed as the new state director of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (PASBDC), effective Monday, August 11. With over ten years of experience in economic development, Mailloux steps into this leadership role after serving nearly two years as the associate state director of the PASBDC.
In her previous position, Mailloux was instrumental in implementing the SBDC’s strategic plan, which focused on enhancing program delivery and maintaining high performance. Before joining the PASBDC, she made significant contributions as the associate state director of the Delaware Small Business Development Center for two years. Her extensive background also includes a two-year tenure as a program manager at PASBDC at Temple University.
Mailloux’s professional experience extends beyond the SBDC framework, touching on wealth management, accounting, and licensing. She has gained recognition for her efforts to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness within SBDC programming. Notably, in 2022, she received the PASBDC “Game Changer” award and the University of Delaware Alumni Leadership Award, underscoring her impact in the field.
Additionally, Mailloux’s dedication to education has not gone unnoticed. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Delaware’s Lerner College of Business, where she was honored with the MVP (Most Valuable Professor) Award for teaching excellence in 2024. Furthermore, her contributions to the business community were acknowledged when she was featured in the 40 under 40 list by America’s SBDC and Delaware Business Times.
Mailloux holds three degrees from the University of Delaware: a Bachelor of Arts in international relations, a Master of Science in international business, and an MBA in entrepreneurship. She is also recognized as an SBA Export Trade Counseling Certified advisor and a Commercialization Methodology Certified Coach, signifying her expertise in business advising and entrepreneurship.
The PASBDC is a statewide organization that offers consulting services and business training tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs. Operating with an approximate budget of $10 million, the PASBDC employs over 150 staff members spread across 15 universities throughout Pennsylvania. The organization plays a crucial role in fostering economic growth by supporting small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with essential resources and guidance.
