News Summary

Pennsylvania has reported an impressive growth in gaming revenue for April 2025, reaching $558 million, a 10.7% increase from the previous year. The surge is largely attributed to significant gains in igaming revenue, particularly from slots and table games. Valley Forge Casino Resort led the way in revenue generation, followed closely by Hollywood Casino and Rivers Casino Philadelphia. Despite a slight decline in total slot revenue, the igaming sector showed remarkable growth, proving the gaming industry’s strong contribution to the state’s economy.

Pennsylvania reported significant growth in its gaming revenue for April 2025, reaching $558 million, a notable increase of 10.7% compared to the same month last year. This surge was mainly driven by substantial gains in igaming revenue, with slots revenue increasing by 34.5% and table games revenue rising by 24.2%.

Leading the state in revenue was Valley Forge Casino Resort, which achieved $99.1 million, reflecting a 16.1% increase from $85.3 million in April 2024. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course followed closely, with revenues of $97.7 million, marking a 24.7% rise year-over-year. Additionally, Rivers Casino Philadelphia saw revenues climb to $56.2 million, a 14.5% increase from $49 million last year. Parx Casino in Philadelphia reported a slight increase to $54.2 million, up from $53.8 million, a growth of 0.78%.

While overall performance was strong, the total slot revenue for Pennsylvania casinos amounted to $203.1 million, which represents a 1.6% decline year-over-year. Parx Casino led in slot revenue with $31.4 million, slightly down from last year’s total. Other casinos such as Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh also saw small declines in their slot revenues, recording $22.5 million and $20.9 million respectively, down from the previous year’s figures.

On the other hand, the igaming revenue in Pennsylvania reached an impressive $227.7 million. The Hollywood Casino at Penn National significantly contributed to this with $83.2 million, showing a remarkable year-over-year increase of 33.5%. Valley Forge Casino Resort also performed well with an igaming revenue of $66.7 million, marking a growth of 38.7%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia added $35.9 million, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 17.1%.

Sports wagering also had a robust showing, generating $42.5 million from a betting handle of $711.6 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort led this category with $20.1 million from a handle of $269.8 million, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows with $12.1 million from $185.6 million in bets.

Overall, total tax revenue from gaming in April 2025 surged to $234.5 million. Specifically, the revenue from retail slot machines comprised $102.8 million, while table games generated $80.6 million, an increase of 2.70% from $78.5 million in April 2024. In addition, revenue from video gaming terminals totaled $3.5 million, down 3.55% compared to last year.

The gaming industry in Pennsylvania has consistently proven to be a vital contributor to the state’s economy, generating a total of $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024 alone. With continuous growth in revenues and diversification into igaming and sports wagering, the future of Pennsylvania’s gaming landscape appears promising.
