The violence did not end there. Just an hour later, around 6 p.m., a second shooting incident occurred outside James Logan Elementary School in Northwest Philadelphia. This event resulted in the tragic death of an 18-year-old male victim, who was shot several times in the chest and torso. He was pronounced dead shortly after 6:30 p.m. at a local hospital. Another victim, a 17-year-old male, was shot in the hand and leg. He has been transported to a hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The shooting at James Logan Elementary School took place in the schoolyard at the intersection of 17th and West Ruscomb Street. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small reported that the incident was particularly alarming, as a total of 38 shots were fired during the shooting. Investigators noted the presence of multiple shell casings found in both the playground area and a nearby courtyard sitting area. According to police, there is evidence suggesting that two shooters were involved, who fled the scene wearing dark clothing.
