Within this segment, online slots generated $169.5 million, a considerable 34.5% increase from $126 million in April 2024. Additionally, revenue from iGaming table games also grew, rising 24.2% to $55.9 million from the previous $45 million.

While online gaming thrived, revenue from retail slot machines exhibited a slight downturn. Despite availability decreasing from 24,890 to 24,363 machines, the retail slot machine revenue declined by 1.16%, totaling $203,094,831 compared to $205,485,828 in April 2024. Conversely, retail table games achieved revenue growth of 2.70%, hitting $80,604,940 this year, up from $78,482,947 in the same month last year.

The total tax revenue generated from all gaming activities in April 2025 reached $234,493,926, contributing significantly to state resources. The sports betting sector also witnessed a healthy performance, with a reported handle of $711,569,216, up 10.14% from the previous year. Taxable revenue from sports wagering increased slightly by 0.29% to $42,533,444, compared to $42,412,510 during April 2024. As a result, tax revenue from sports betting amounted to $15,312,040.

Moreover, revenue from video gaming terminals (VGTs) totaled $3,518,821 for April 2025, indicating a 3.55% decrease from $3,648,270 in 2024. In contrast, revenue from fantasy contests showed a slight rise of 2.34% to $1,256,994, generating a tax revenue amounting to $188,549.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) regulates various forms of gambling across the state, including 17 land-based casinos and a range of online gaming operations. Overall, in 2024, the total gaming tax revenue and fees collected by the state reached $2.66 billion, underscoring the significant economic impact of the gaming industry in Pennsylvania.

This upward trend in gaming revenue demonstrates the resilience and adaptation of the gambling market, particularly in the online sector, as it continues to attract players and generate positive contributions to the state’s economy.
