These individuals, which include Yesenia Duarte, Enrique Munoz Hernández, Manuel Sánchez Santos, Victor Bueno Fermín, and José Rondón, face charges of conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver.
In a previous investigation involving the Acevedo DTO, law enforcement recovered more than 31 kilograms of fentanyl, valued at over $5 million. The serious health risks associated with fentanyl, especially when mixed with xylazine, have been a growing concern among public health officials.
Separately, Castro Frias, a Dominican national, has been sentenced to over six years for his role in another drug trafficking network involving fentanyl and xylazine and is set to be deported after serving his sentence. An earlier investigation into the Bad Bunny Drug Trafficking Organization also resulted in several arrests and notable drug seizures linked to fatal overdoses in the area.
In recent months, law enforcement officials have seized significant amounts of cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash and firearms, during these concerted anti-drug efforts. Preliminary hearings for several suspects involved in these drug trafficking cases are scheduled for November, marking a continued focus on combating drug-related crimes in Philadelphia and surrounding regions.
